Happy Holidays

As 2025 comes to a close, we’d like to thank everyone in our Casa Quirk community for supporting our beekeeping efforts this year.

The hives did well through the season and we had 3 beautiful harvests – approximately 200 pounds! It was enough to fill every order we received and we donated 2 cases of small jars to the College of DuPage Fuel Pantry which supports members of the COD community facing food insecurity.

If you are still in need of honey for your holiday table, we have limited amounts available. We will do our best to update our order form as availability changes.

You can order on our Google form: http://www.casaquirk.com/order-form

  • 8 large 23oz jars
  • 20 small 12oz jars
  • 4 chunk 12oz jars (comb & honey)
  • 3 honeycomb squares (4in x 4in)

Wishing you a warm holiday season!

Brian & Steph

2024 Honey Season is Open!

2024 honey is now available! You can see all available options on the Order Form with additional offerings like honeycomb coming later in the season.

The first honey harvest of the season is always a beautiful light gold as the bees forage nectar from the earliest spring blooms in our area. We hope you enjoy this early harvest.

Tomorrow, July 10th is “Don’t Step on a Bee” day! On this day, we celebrate a good reminder – Don’t step on a bee! Celebrate by making a bee hotel, supporting your local beekeeper, and planting wildflowers. See more bee-education resources and printables on our new EDU Hive page.

Celebrating National Honey Bee Day

The third Saturday in August is National Honey Bee Day, a day to celebrate honey bees and beekeepers!

Here are a few ways you can help the honey bees:

  1. Plant bee-friendly flowers and flowering herbs in your garden and yard. Check out the Xerces Society website to search native, pollinator-friendly plants for your state.
  2. Let the weeds grow – you may not like them, but bees love them! Reduce the use of pesticides to treat your lawn or garden while flowers are in bloom. Acetic acid concentrations above 10% are toxic to bees and other beneficial insects. The Xerces Society recommends applying organic pesticides at night to reduce exposure to beneficial insects, which are mostly active during the day.
  3. Bees are thirsty. Put a shallow basin of fresh water with marbles or rocks in it for the bees to land on outside your home.
  4. Donate to an organization dedicated to helping protect and promote honey bees and other pollinators. We recommend Project Apis m. who fund research and directs strategic efforts focused on practical solutions improving honey bee health and vitality and Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, an international nonprofit organization that protects the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.
  5. Support beekeepers by purchasing honey! Learn more about the Casa Quirk honey bees.

Thank you for your support!

2023 Honey is Here! 🎉

The wait is over, we have 2023 honey available! You can see all available options on the Order Form.

The first honey harvest of the season is always a beautiful light gold as the bees forage nectar from the earliest spring blooms in our area. We notice a darker color later in the year when the summer and early fall blooms arrive. You can see the difference in the 2022 harvest comparison. Right is the second summer harvest and left is the third.
